Heather Gillers joined the Tribune in 2012. She has reported on questionable conduct at several of Chicago’s nonprofit institutions, including the Field Museum’s sale of paintings from its collection to pay staff salaries. She was part of a team that investigated Chicago's troubled municipal bond program. Gillers previously covered state government for The Indianapolis Star. Her first job was at the Aurora Beacon News.
