About DelViscio

Jeffery DelViscio is a web producer on the science/environment desk of The New York Times. He works in close collaboration with bureau chiefs and reporters to conceptualize multimedia stories that complement print pieces or run as Web-only features. He also trains correspondents to use equipment such as recorders and video cameras and helps troubleshoot issues in difficult and sometimes dangerous field conditions. In his five years at The Times, he has traveled to the Dominican Republic to teach a course in multimedia journalism. He has worked on projects on six continents on issues ranging from the lives of the Kamayura Indians in the Brazilian Amazon to the twentieth anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Before joining The Times, he worked as a freelance illustrator and consultant for W.H. Freeman and Company publishers. Earlier he worked as a media analyst and consultant for the International Research Institute for Climate Prediction and previously worked as a project manager/researcher for the Center for Science in the Public Interest. He has a B.A. with honors in Earth and Environmental Sciences from Wesleyan University and an M.S. in Journalism and an M.A. in Earth and Environmental Sciences from Columbia University.
