Michael Calore oversees the consumer products coverage at WIRED: in print, on the website, and as cohost of the weekly Gadget Lab audio podcast. Calore came to WIRED in 2000, first as a reporter and later an editor, covering software, web browsers, web standards, social networks, and web apps. In 2010, he switched his concentration to consumer electronics. Before writing about technology, he worked at a tiny record label and in the snowboarding and skateboarding industries. Calore is a cyclist, a collector of vinyl LPs, and a musicianâhe plays bass in a few bands and makes his own music under the name Solar Keys.
